Privacy Policy

Effective July 12, 2026

Togar is an Android app that helps you track spending, scan receipts, organize tax documents, and put it all together for your CPA. This policy explains what data the app handles, where it lives, and how you stay in control.

1. Information the App Handles

  • Receipt images and line items — photos or PDFs you scan, and the structured data the AI extracts (store, amount, items, categories). Stored locally on your device.
  • Bank transaction metadata — transaction descriptions, amounts, dates, and categories pulled via Plaid in read-only mode. The app never sees your bank password or full account number.
  • Account info — the Google account email you connect for Drive backup or email-based receipt import. Stored locally on your device.
  • Usage analytics — anonymous usage counts (app opens, screens viewed, onboarding progress) collected via Google Firebase Analytics after you accept the in-app consent screen, so we can see how many people Togar is helping. No receipt content, amounts, merchants, advertising ID, or account identity. Not sold, not used for ads. Can be disabled anytime in Settings → Privacy.
  • Crash reports — anonymous crash diagnostics to improve app stability.

2. No Ads, No Data Sales

Togar does not show ads and does not monetize your financial information. Revenue comes from subscriptions and AI credit purchases.

3. Where Your Data Lives

Togar is built around a simple principle: your data stays yours.

  • On your device — receipts, transactions, and categories are stored locally in an encrypted database.
  • In your Google Drive — backups sync to your own Drive account, not to any developer-operated server. You can browse, export, or delete them anytime.

Togar does not host your financial data on any server. The app forwards AI requests to OpenAI on your behalf — it does not store them.

4. Third-Party Services

ServicePurposeWhat they access
PlaidBank account sync (read-only)Transaction metadata only
Google DriveEncrypted backup & exportFiles in the Togar app folder
OpenAIReceipt parsing (AI)Receipt images for extraction
Google Firebase AnalyticsAnonymous usage analyticsApp-usage events only — no financial content, no advertising ID

Each service operates under its own privacy policy.

5. AI & Receipt Processing

When you scan a receipt, the image is sent to OpenAI's API for line-item extraction. OpenAI does not store the image after processing, and your data is not used to train their models (per their API data usage policy). The structured result is stored locally on your device and in your Google Drive backup.

6. Your Rights

  • Export — download all your data anytime via the in-app export feature, directly to your Google Drive.
  • Delete — delete any individual receipt, transaction, or account from within the app. Uninstalling removes all local data.
  • Access — all your financial data is visible directly in the app. None of it is stored on developer servers.
  • Opt out — disable anonymous usage analytics anytime in Settings → Privacy.

7. Children

Togar is intended for users 18 years of age or older.

8. Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new effective date. Continued use of the app after the update constitutes acceptance.
